INDIAN TALIBAN

Prologue: Commence a minute of silence to mourn for people who suffered affliction from withering brunt of naxalism.

There has been an up-roar against naxal violence justifiably. It’s grieving fact that naxals have lately been involved in an unwanted attack on civilians. Such actions are condemnable and deplorable to say the least. But this should not be an expeller for us to have a corroborate debate on naxalism and its griming yet striking resemblance to Taliban of west-asian countries.

Naxalism alias Maoism abode more than half a century ago. Maoism built with an agenda of fight against state’s injustice to the poor ones. Maoism which began in a telangana region of Andhra Pradesh swiftly expanded its roots across India. Now it has escalated to be a primary internal security crisis glooming in our country. Our alacrity and apathetic to curb it has been exposed.

Up till now everyone has put a blind-eye to it. When it has taken the centre-stage, our response has been appalling. Conflict of views could be seen openly across fields. Amiable solution couldn’t be reached among so called pioneers of social justice, human right activists, etc. Government believes a two-pronged would be an ideal way forward. Results of it so far have been abortive and in fact added to existing antagonism between state and its people.

Unfortunately in the solution lies the problem. Industrial growth and economic growth with mining &SEZ’s is need of hour. But valuation cost paid by poor and tribal’s for it shouldn’t be neglected. All industrialization and its activities shouldn’t be brushed with same paint. But, fact is there is forceful abduction of forest lands by avaricious industries. Though in some cases compensation is paid but it is very little. Government needs to form an institution which would cross check all the land abductions and ensure that an accord is finalized. Such that both sides would leave table with an ameliorated understanding than fissions of distrust.

Maoists give tribal’s hope, authority most importantly rights which as a state longingly deny them. Maoists have filled the void which lack of governance has left. They built their foundations on agony left over by distress caused by prolonged annihilation of state. Voice of Maoists is that of tribal’s. Our colossal effort should be in understanding cause of it rather than underestimating it. Muscling our way through barren lands might yield a solution but it would never win the confidence of deprived tribal’s.

Maoism agenda today is misguided and metamorphosed into part of a problem than being solution to it. It’s imperative for Maoists to come clear. It has to realize that people benignly welcomed them because of not arms which they brought with them. But, it’s due to benevolence which Maoist have showered on them. Even Taliban was hailed before they began to abort problems of people and evolved into to a dictatorial religious regime.

As for government it has to thread a tight rope. In fact central government role is minuscule and limited to providing funds and men for states. State should take vehement measures to win the confidence of its people. Political parties should try to reach out to its constituents. At the end once this is addressed India as a nation would emerge much more democratic and united with growth being centralized and not being centric to few institutions.

  5. do u know the origin of the word naxal or its meaning???

    according to wikipedia,

The Naxalites, Naxals or Naksalvadis are a Maoist communist group in India, leaders of the Naxalite-Maoist insurgency.

The Naxal name comes from the village of Naxalbari in the Indian state of West Bengal where the movement originated. The Naxals are considered far-left radical communists, supportive of Maoist political sentiment and ideology. Their origin can be traced to the split in 1967 of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), leading to the formation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist). Initially the movement had its centre in West Bengal. In later years, it spread into less developed areas of rural central and eastern India, such as Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh through the activities of underground groups like the Communist Party of India (Maoist).[1]

  6. Hey tarun.
For a matter of fact their isn't any proof for 'particular' evolution of naxalism. Various groups which were fighting the state have came together an umbrella.
When I mentioned telangana region, what I meant was that naxalism (or the activists) was highly active in telangana, their strong hold for long tym. Probably I wasn't articulative enough
As far as 'research' I don't think wikipedia is an answer for it.
As far as naxalism and maoism being called in same breadth is concerned as a matter of fact it widely done, so I don't see any obligation in doing same ( not undermining democratic Left party's in any way)
'Blog' is an opportunity to post my opinions and seek others comments. I don't believe to be always right. Certainly my facts aren't that faulty as you believe.
